January 2008 CPEC News Update
2008 is an exciting new year with new opportunities for CPEC and all their team members. For us, it's exciting to know that change is imminent, and Central Pennsylvania will finally be rewarded with an equestrian facility worthy of the industry that we are all lucky enough to be a part of.
CPEC's construction has suffered delays, red tape, weather issues and every other challenge a project of this size must overcome but the process is now full steam ahead. We invite all to drive by the facility as the build occurs.
In the meantime, CPEC team members are competing in some of the most challenging venues the country has to offer starting with the Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, Florida. The winter circuit is well under way with the Olympic selection trials having been wrapped-up during week 8. Olympic team members are now selected, which means the rest of us must get up earlier, stay later, and train harder if we wish to achieve our biggest goals!
On that note we want to congratulate Lexie Mowery on her remarkable 1st year on the WEF circuit with top placings on her always impressive Razzle my Tazz (no longer for sale since he has found a home with the Mowery family) Lexie has been busy in the jumper ring as well winning top prizes with CPEC's own Surfer Girl.
Not to be outdone, Haley Mowery started the winter circuit with good placings in week one with her new horse Liberty. When week two arrived she blew everyone away with 2nd, 3rd and 4th places in both short stirrup and the 11 & under equitation divisions.
Elizabeth Kauffman started the season off big with top placings in Jacksonville Florida on both Sully and her new mount Edwina. As a 3 year veteran on the WEF circuit, Elizabeth showed both talent and guts by winning valuable points toward the year long goal of qualifying for the indoor finals.
CPEC's young horses are showing their talent with consistent placings by Or de vy in the 6 year old classes, Largo in the 7 yr olds and Que in the competitive 1.40 division. Richydou accumulated multiple placings in the International Arena competing in the 1.35 - 1.45m classes throughout the circuit.
Our top medium green pony, Mind Your Step has garnered three championships and two reserves to his credit as of this report. He is well on his way to being one of the top green ponies in the Nation!
Congratulations also go out to the Lebanon Valley College Intercollegiate riding team which had a tremendous season with top placing both individually and as a team overall. CPEC is committed to this program's growth as it aids the school and the community as a whole.
